How IASSC certifications work
- Exam format and passing score
- Belt exams are closed book and proctored, with a 70% passing score. Yellow Belt is 60 questions in 2 hours, Green Belt 100 questions in 3 hours and Black Belt 150 questions in 4 hours.
- No experience requirement
- There are no prerequisites for any belt exam. Training and work experience are not required to sit it.
- Validity and recertification
- Certifications hold Current status for 3 years. To keep it, pass a shorter recertification exam before that date or within 90 days after; you get two attempts at least two weeks apart. Otherwise the certification is permanently Elapsed, and you must pass the full exam again to be Current.
- Delivery
- Take on-demand online exams with PeopleCert proctoring, or book an IASSC-Pearson VUE test-centre exam. Recertification exams are taken online or through an IASSC Accredited Provider.
- Independent, training-agnostic body
- IASSC only certifies; it does not sell training. It separately accredits outside training providers.
