How to choose a certification

Which certification fits your goal?

  • End-to-end supply chain: CSCP. ASCM's end-to-end credential covering planning, sourcing, operations, logistics and supplier and customer relationships in one exam. There are no eligibility requirements.
  • Planning and inventory: CPIM. ASCM's credential for demand forecasting, S&OP, production scheduling and inventory management: one exam with no eligibility requirements.
  • Procurement and supply management: CPSM. ISM's credential for procurement and supply management, earned by passing three exams. You need three years of supply management experience with a bachelor's degree, or five without.
  • Logistics and distribution: CLTD. ASCM's credential for logistics, transportation and distribution. Choose it when moving and storing goods is your main work.

What to know before choosing

  • Choose by function. Procurement, planning and logistics are connected but tested separately. Pick the credential closest to your current or target job.
  • Compare ASCM packages. ASCM prices depend on membership and whether you buy the learning system bundle. Compare what each package includes before buying.
  • Experience is required only for CPSM. CPSM requires supply management experience; CSCP and CPIM can be booked by anyone.
