How HashiCorp certifications work
- Exam fees and format
- Associate exams (Terraform, Vault) cost $70.50 plus local taxes and are 1-hour multiple-choice exams with no free retake. Advanced exams cost $295 plus local taxes, run 4 hours with lab-based scenarios, and include one free retake if you fail, requested within 3 months.
- Validity and recertification
- Certifications are valid for 2 years. From 18 months after passing until expiry, pass the same exam again to extend validity by 2 years from the new pass date; passing a higher-level exam for the same product before expiry also extends it. After expiry, pass the current exam again.
- Retake rules
- Wait 7 days after a failed attempt. You can attempt an exam up to 4 times in any rolling 365 days. Each Associate attempt is a new purchase.
- Delivery
- All exams are online in English with a live proctor on the Certiverse platform. You need a physical, unexpired government photo ID, a webcam and a private room.
