How much does the Terraform Associate exam cost?
$70.50 plus local taxes. A retake is not included, so each new attempt is another $70.50 appointment.
Is the Terraform Associate exam hard?
It is a foundational exam. Pass reports describe the questions as fair and direct for people who have used the Terraform CLI and read the documentation.
What changed in the 004 exam?
Version 004 replaced 003 on January 8, 2026 and tests Terraform 1.12. It added lifecycle rules such as create_before_destroy, custom condition validation, ephemeral values and write-only arguments, and HCP Terraform workspaces and projects.
Does the Terraform Associate certification expire?
Yes. It is valid for 2 years. Retake the current exam in the last 6 months before it expires, or pass a higher Terraform exam, to extend it.
