Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700) Practice Tests

Validates skills in building Microsoft Fabric pipelines, including ingestion and transformation with PySpark, SQL and KQL, and monitoring.

DP-700 runs 100 minutes, and Microsoft says most of its exams have 40 to 60 questions. It opens with a case study, then asks long scenario questions that make you read SQL, PySpark and KQL and choose the right Fabric tool. We compared the main options on case-study practice, official coverage and price.

Most people should start with Microsoft's free practice assessment. Add MeasureUp's new August 2026 test or CertiAce's larger bank for timed practice. Hands-on Fabric work matters more than extra question banks.

Free first look

DP-700 practice assessment

Official questions with a rationale and a documentation link for every answer in your score report. It shows the exam's question style, but not its length or its long case-study scenarios.

Great fit if you want a free read on the exam's style and your weak areas before spending anything.

Poor fit if you need volume or a timed full-length run; use MeasureUp or CertiAce.

Official timed run

DP-700 Practice Test: Implementing Data Engineering Solutions Using Microsoft Fabric

Microsoft's official practice-test partner. Released in August 2026, with timed certification mode and customisable practice mode, explanations for every option and score reports by exam area.

Great fit if you want an official timed run on the current outline, with a free demo to try first.

Poor fit if you want a large bank for repeated practice; it has 102 questions and 30 or 60 days of access, so add CertiAce.

Large case-study bank

DP-700 Fabric Data Engineer Practice Exams

A bank built by Microsoft MVP and Fabric YouTuber Aleksi Partanen, with an explanation and further-reading link for each question. Candidates call it close to the real exam; timed exams and case studies need the paid plan.

Great fit if you want a big bank and case-study practice, or will also sit DP-600 or other Microsoft exams.

Poor fit if DP-700 is your only exam and you are on a budget; MeasureUp costs half as much for one month.

What to look for in a DP-700 practice test

  • Match the current outline. Microsoft updates the English DP-700 on October 19, 2026, with minor changes to workspace settings and performance optimisation. The three areas carry 30-35% each, so a good bank covers analytics-solution management, ingestion and transformation, and monitoring and optimisation equally.
  • Expect a case study first, then long scenarios. Candidates report about 54 questions in 100 minutes, with a case study of around 10 questions up front that you cannot return to once you leave it. Choose banks with case-study sets and timed runs, and practise reading long scenarios fast.
  • Look for code and tool-choice questions. The exam expects you to read SQL, PySpark and KQL and to choose between Dataflows Gen2, pipelines, notebooks and eventstreams. Candidates have reported heavy Spark content, so favour banks that show code and explain the choice.
  • Pick by freshness and size. MeasureUp's test was released in August 2026 with 102 questions, so it is current but small.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual DP-700 questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items. Microsoft's exam policies count brain dumps as cheating and let Microsoft revoke your certifications and bar you from future exams. A real practice test explains why each answer is right; a dump only lists answers.

How to use DP-700 practice tests

  • Take the free assessment first. Do Microsoft's practice assessment before you study heavily, then read the rationale for every question to find which of the three areas is weakest.
  • Log misses by area and tool. Note whether each miss was Spark, T-SQL, KQL, pipelines, security or monitoring. Candidates who failed with an even score across the three areas needed depth in at least one or two of them.
  • Build in a Fabric workspace. A candidate who relied mostly on practice tests failed with 540, then passed with 912 after redoing the Learn modules and building lakehouses, eventhouses and pipelines. Practise SQL, KQL and PySpark daily.
  • Do timed runs with a case study. Near your exam date, sit a full 100-minute run that starts with a case study. Candidates say Microsoft Learn is available in the exam but easy to waste time in, so use it only for questions where you are torn between two answers.
  • Read your scores with caution. Practice questions tend to be shorter and easier than the real scenarios. Aim well above the minimum before booking, and move to new questions rather than retaking a set you remember.

DP-700 practice test FAQ

Is there a free DP-700 practice test?

Yes. Microsoft Learn has a free DP-700 practice assessment with unlimited retakes, and you need to sign in to your Learn profile.

Is there a MeasureUp practice test for DP-700?

Yes. MeasureUp released a DP-700 test in August 2026 with 102 questions. Candidates writing in July 2026 said it did not exist yet, so reports on it are still rare.

Are DP-700 practice tests harder than the real exam?

Candidates generally say the real exam is harder than the free assessment, with long scenario questions and heavy Spark content. CertiAce users say its questions are close to the exam, though one found the real scenarios more complex.

How many questions are on the DP-700 exam?

Microsoft gives 100 minutes and says role-based exams usually have 40 to 60 questions. Candidates report 53 to 54 questions, with a case study at the start that you cannot revisit.
