GitHub Actions (GH-200) Courses

Validates knowledge of authoring and troubleshooting workflows, building custom actions, managing Actions across an enterprise and securing pipelines.

GH-200 questions turn on workflow details such as triggers, permissions, secrets and OIDC, plus Actions at enterprise scale, so a good course makes you write and debug workflows. We compared the main options on hands-on practice, coverage and price.

Most people should start with Microsoft Learn's two free GitHub Actions paths, Part 1 then Part 2, the official starting point for GH-200. Choose KodeKloud if you learn by writing workflows in browser labs, and watch the freeCodeCamp video only as a free overview.

How to choose a GitHub Actions course

  • Follow the January 2026 skills list. GH-200's skills were updated in January 2026. The freeCodeCamp video was recorded in 2024, so use it for orientation only.
  • Write workflows yourself. Questions ask what a matrix produces, which permission or trigger applies and how secrets and OIDC work. Building workflows teaches those details better than watching.
  • Cover enterprise scale. Candidates report many questions on Actions across an organization or enterprise. Part 2 of Microsoft's path and KodeKloud's enterprise lab both cover it.
  • Start free. Microsoft's two paths cost nothing. Pay only if you want guided labs, such as KodeKloud's.

Recommended GitHub Actions course combinations

  • Lowest cost: Microsoft Learn's Part 1 and Part 2, Microsoft's free practice assessment and GHCertified's 180 free questions.
  • Hands-on: KodeKloud's GitHub Actions Certification ($35/month), then Tutorials Dojo's GH-200 practice exams ($15).
  • Scenario practice: Microsoft Learn's two paths, then Bryan Krausen's four GH-200 practice exams on Udemy ($65).
  • Employer pays: Microsoft Learn's two paths and MeasureUp's GH-200 practice test ($99), which is mapped to the January 2026 objectives.
