Palo Alto Networks Certified Next-Generation Firewall Engineer (NGFW Engineer) (NGFW-Engineer) Practice Tests

Validates practical skills in configuring Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including PAN-OS networking, device settings, Panorama and deployment automation.

Palo Alto publishes no question count or time limit for the NGFW Engineer exam, only that items vary and you select the best answer. Questions test PAN-OS configuration choices, and networking and device settings carry 80% of the exam.

Palo Alto publishes no practice test, so start with a free 20-question set to find your weak domain, then use timed 60-question papers once short sets stop exposing gaps.

Timed full exams

NGFW Engineer Practice Tests

Eight free 20-question tests, mixed or by domain, plus ten paid 60-question, 90-minute papers weighted 40/40/20 like the blueprint, with some two-answer items.

Great fit if you want timed practice that follows the blueprint weights and fresh papers to rotate through.

Poor fit if you want Palo Alto's own wording; none exists, so treat every set as a gap finder.

What to look for in a NGFW Engineer practice test

  • Match the November 2025 blueprint. The exam has three domains weighted 40%, 40% and 20%. Material written for PCNSE or earlier outlines misses newer objectives such as quantum-resistant IPSec, Cloud Identity Engine User-ID and AI Runtime Security.
  • Look for configuration scenarios. The blueprint is a list of tasks to configure, implement and build, and Palo Alto recommends about two years on its firewalls. Good questions make you pick the right interface, routing, HA, decryption or Panorama setting for a situation, not recall a feature name.
  • Expect no official practice test. Palo Alto publishes the datasheet and a learning path and tells candidates to use official resources, but no practice exam. Every question set is third-party, so lab work and PAN-OS documentation have to fill the gap.
  • Check answer keys against the documentation. Reviewers of third-party NGFW question sets report wrong answers and ask for documentation references. When a key looks wrong, confirm it in the PAN-OS docs before memorising it.
  • Want fresh papers, not one set. Short sets find weak topics, but a single 20-question paper is memorised in a day. Pick a product with several full-length papers so late practice stays unfamiliar.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual NGFW Engineer questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items. Palo Alto Networks' candidate agreement bans brain dump material and lets it revoke all your certifications and ban you from its program. A real practice test explains why each answer is right; a dump only lists answers.

How to use NGFW Engineer practice tests

  • Lab the objectives first. Reading about HA, routing or GlobalProtect is different from configuring link monitoring or a tunnel. Use the datasheet's tasks as a lab checklist before heavy question practice.
  • Take a short free set cold. Twenty mixed questions show whether Networking or Device Settings is leaking points; those two domains hold 80% of the weight.
  • Redo every miss in a lab or the docs. For each wrong answer, find the PAN-OS setting behind it and reproduce it, rather than only reading the explanation.
  • Weight your time 40/40/20. Spend most hours on interfaces, zones, HA, routing, certificates, decryption and User-ID, then Panorama, APIs and deployment options.
  • End with timed 90-minute runs. Once short sets stop exposing gaps, take full papers on the clock to test concentration and second-guessing.

NGFW Engineer practice test FAQ

Does Palo Alto offer an NGFW Engineer practice test?

No. Palo Alto publishes the exam datasheet, a digital learning path and instructor-led courses, and tells candidates to prepare with official resources. Practice questions come from third parties.

Are there free NGFW Engineer practice tests?

Yes. SecurityPracticeTest offers eight free 20-question tests, mixed or by domain, before you buy its full-length papers.

Can I use PCNSE practice tests for NGFW Engineer?

Only as general PAN-OS review. PCNSE retired in 2025 and the NGFW Engineer blueprint adds topics such as Cloud Identity Engine User-ID, quantum-resistant IPSec and AI Runtime Security.

How many questions are on the NGFW Engineer exam?

Palo Alto does not publish the number of live questions in the datasheet. Practice papers of about 60 questions in 90 minutes are a reasonable timing drill.
