PRINCE2 Project Management Practitioner Practice Tests

Validates the ability to apply and tailor PRINCE2 principles, themes and processes to manage projects in real scenarios.

PRINCE2 7 Practitioner is an open-book exam of 56 questions worth 70 marks in 150 minutes, built around a project scenario, so practice means applying the manual to scenario questions. We compared the main options on exam-style wording, explanations and price.

Most people should start with TrustEd's free tier and add a full simulator. Sit PeopleCert's official mock near the end; candidates say it matches the real exam best.

PRINCE2 7 Practitioner Practice Exams

Topic sets across 16 areas plus five full 150-minute mock tests with explanations. The free tier is limited; the full bank needs a subscription after a 7-day trial.

Great fit if you learn by doing many explained questions and want to start free before paying anything.

Poor fit if you want PeopleCert's own wording; check any answer you doubt against the manual, as one candidate found errors in its Foundation mocks.

Real exam rehearsal

PRINCE2 7 Practitioner Official Mock Exam

A full timed and marked exam on PeopleCert's real exam interface, with a report of marks by section. It cannot be repeated, so save it for when you are nearly ready.

Great fit if you want a realistic final check of difficulty, timing and the exam screen.

Poor fit if you want to review each wrong answer; the report shows marks by section only, so work through the sample papers first.

Section score reports

PRINCE2 7 Practitioner Exam Simulator

Scenario-based exams built from a bank whose questions change slightly each run, with an explanation for every question and a score by exam section. It is included free with MPlaza's Practitioner course.

Great fit if you want several full practice papers with explanations, or are buying the MPlaza course anyway.

Poor fit if you want the closest match to PeopleCert's wording; candidates disagree on how close it is, so pair it with the official papers and mock.

What to look for in a PRINCE2 Project Management Practitioner practice test

  • 7th-edition wording and structure. PRINCE2 7 organises the method into principles, people, practices and processes, and the 6th edition's themes are gone. A set that still talks about themes or a change theme was written for the old exam.
  • Scenario questions with a scenario booklet. Every Practitioner question is tied to a project scenario and asks you to apply the method, for example who should act as project assurance in this case. Definition-only questions are Foundation practice.
  • Matching and multiple-response items. The real exam is 56 questions worth 70 marks because matching and multiple-response items carry several marks, so look for a bank that includes those formats, not only single-answer questions.
  • Explanations that point to the manual. The exam is open book, so the skill is finding the answer in the manual and applying it. Prefer explanations that tell you where in the manual the point sits.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual PRINCE2 Practitioner questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items, not practice. Use products that write their own questions and explain every answer, so you learn the reasoning the exam tests.

How to use PRINCE2 Project Management Practitioner practice tests

  • Do the first sample paper open book and tab as you go. Use your copy of the manual the way you will in the exam, and mark each page that an answer sends you to. Read the rationale for every question, including the ones you got right.
  • Learn the scenarios and the roles in them. Candidates advise studying the manual's four scenarios and say roles, responsibilities and management product questions are where many marks are lost. Practise working out who should do what in each case.
  • Time yourself on a full run. You have 150 minutes for 70 marks, which is only about two minutes a mark once you allow for reading the scenario. Practise finding the right section of the manual quickly.
  • Save the official mock for the end. It can only be taken once and reports marks by section, so use the sections where you scored lowest to plan your last few days of revision.
  • Check doubtful third-party answers against the manual. A large bank is useful for volume, but a candidate reported typos and wrong answers in one provider's Foundation mocks. When an answer looks odd, look it up in the manual.

PRINCE2 Project Management Practitioner practice test FAQ

Are there free PRINCE2 Practitioner practice tests?

Yes. TrustEd Institute has a free tier and a 7-day full trial. PeopleCert's own sample papers come with accredited training rather than as a public download.

Are PRINCE2 Practitioner practice exams harder than the real exam?

Candidates describe PeopleCert's paid mock as almost identical to the real exam in difficulty and format. Opinions on third-party simulators are mixed.

How many PRINCE2 Practitioner practice papers should I take?

There is no set number. One or two full third-party papers under time and the official mock once near the end is a sensible plan, with the time between spent on the manual.
