Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-901) Courses

Validates foundational knowledge of AI concepts, responsible AI and building generative AI, vision and speech solutions.

A good AI-901 course covers AI concepts and responsible AI, then teaches you to build with Microsoft Foundry, which is 55 to 60 percent of the exam. We compared the main options on exam coverage, hands-on practice, format and price.

Most people should start with Microsoft's free AI-901 course and build every exercise. Choose Scott Duffy for one structured video course and John Savill's cram video for a free final review.

AI-901 Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals Study Cram

One video of about an hour that walks through the current AI-901 outline: Foundry, models, agents and each AI workload. It reviews topics rather than teaching them from scratch, so it works best as your last pass before the exam.

Great fit if you want a free final review

Poor fit if you need a first introduction; start with Microsoft's course or Scott Duffy

How to choose a AI-901 course

  • Match the AI-901 outline. AI-901 replaced AI-900 on June 30, 2026, and goes deeper into Microsoft Foundry with Python SDK snippets. Courses and practice tests written for AI-900 do not fully prepare you.
  • Build in Foundry. More than half the exam is implementing solutions in Foundry. Microsoft's exercises run in your own Azure subscription, so use the free trial and delete what you create.
  • Pick one main course. Use Microsoft's path or one video course as your base, then add the cram video as a final review. Overlapping courses add time without adding much.
  • Read basic Python. Questions show short Python SDK snippets. If you have never read Python, learn the basics before you start.

Recommended AI-901 course combinations

  • Lowest cost: Microsoft's free course and practice assessment, then John Savill's free cram video the week before the exam.
  • Prefer video: Scott Duffy's course and Tutorials Dojo's AI-901 Practice Exams ($13 for 1 year) for timed practice.
  • Most practice: Microsoft's free course with Joel Palmer's AI-901 Practice Tests 2026 on Udemy ($35), which has six full tests.
  • Already know Azure: Take Microsoft's free practice assessment, work through the Foundry exercises for your gaps and watch Savill's cram video.
