Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) (200-301) Practice Tests

Validates knowledge of network fundamentals, routing, switching, IP services, security and automation for managing connected systems.

CCNA 200-301 is a 120-minute exam mixing performance-based lab tasks, multiple choice and drag-and-drop; Cisco publishes no question count. v1.1 stays bookable until February 2, 2027 (v2.0 starts February 3). We compared the main options on simulator realism, question volume and price.

Most people should start with Training Camp's free 50 questions to find weak domains. Use Boson ExSim-Max for timed, exam-style runs and add Jeremy's cheap Udemy exams for volume.

CCNA 200-301 Free Practice Test

A 50-question test across all six v1.1 domains, with a 25-question quick version. Every answer choice is explained right after you answer.

Great fit if you want a free diagnostic across every domain before paying for anything.

Poor fit if you want a timed full-length run with simulated labs; use Boson ExSim-Max.

Free lesson quizzes

Jeremy's IT Lab Free CCNA Course (quizzes and flashcards)

The free video course ends each lesson with quiz questions, and the downloadable Anki flashcards add recall practice. Short checks after each topic rather than exam-length tests.

Great fit if you are working through Jeremy's lessons and want quick recall questions after each topic.

Poor fit if you need timed full-length exams; move to Boson or Jeremy's Udemy exams.

Realistic final check

ExSim-Max for Cisco 200-301 CCNA

Five exams with explanations for right and wrong answers, a study mode and a timed simulation mode. Candidates call it the standard CCNA practice product and say its questions run harder than the real exam.

Great fit if you want a realistic timed final check and detailed explanations.

Poor fit if you want many exams for little money; Jeremy's Udemy exams cost far less, or add them alongside Boson.

Budget full exams

Ace the CCNA v1.1 with Realistic Practice Exams

Three timed 100-question exams written to Cisco's wording, with plain-English explanations. Jeremy says they run harder than the real CCNA on purpose, and buyers get future exams at no extra cost.

Great fit if you want cheap full-length exams that follow Jeremy's teaching, or a second source after Boson.

Poor fit if you want simulated lab practice; use Boson or Jeremy's $10 exams on his own site, which include graded Packet Tracer questions.

Book question bank

CCNA 200-301 Official Cert Guide Library, Premium Edition

Wendell Odom's two-volume library with the Pearson Test Prep engine: exam-style questions, customisable quizzes and performance reports. Questions tie back to book sections, so each miss tells you what to reread.

Great fit if you are studying from the Cert Guide and want lots of questions mapped to chapters.

Poor fit if you want the closest simulation of exam day; add Boson for timed runs.

Official practice exam

Cisco Exam Review: CCNA

Cisco's own practice exam for 200-301 on Cisco U., with about 300 questions including 15 lab exercises. You can retake it as often as you like until access ends.

Great fit if you want Cisco-written questions and lab-style items, or your employer pays through Cisco Learning Credits.

Poor fit if you want the most proven third-party exam; Boson has far more candidate backing.

Study on your phone

Pocket Prep IT and Cybersecurity: Cisco CCNA

Short quiz sessions with explanations and a running score for each domain, on the web and in the mobile app. You can try 30 questions free before subscribing.

Great fit if you study in short sessions on your phone and want weak-domain tracking.

Poor fit if you want timed, exam-length runs with simulated labs; use Boson.

What to look for in a CCNA practice test

  • Decide between v1.1 and v2.0 first. v1.1 is bookable through February 2, 2027; v2.0 starts February 3 under the same 200-301 code, with five domains (25/25/20/20/10), more troubleshooting and a new AI domain. Every bank here targets v1.1, so match it to your test date. If you test after February 3, expect a gap before v2.0 practice appears; Boson has said it will update after the new exam goes live.
  • Look for simulated lab questions. Cisco lists performance-based, multiple-choice and drag-and-drop questions without counts. A May 2026 test-centre passer saw four or five labs first, then about 72 to 74 other questions. Most banks are multiple choice only; Boson's simulation mode mirrors this layout, Cisco Exam Review lists 15 lab exercises, and Jeremy's $10 exams on his own site grade Packet Tracer tasks.
  • Prefer explanations that cover every option. CCNA questions ask for the best answer or the right command output, so you learn most from why the other options fail. Boson, Jeremy's exams, Pearson, Pocket Prep and Training Camp all explain answers.
  • Expect the best banks to run harder than the real exam. Candidates describe Boson as a bit harder, and Jeremy says his exams are harder on purpose. One May 2026 passer scored between 66% and 93% on Boson's five exams and still passed. Boson gives you the exam's style, not its questions.
  • Have enough fresh exams. Boson has five exams (370 questions), Jeremy's Udemy set has three, and the Cert Guide library advertises 800+ questions. Combining two sources keeps late practice unseen.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual CCNA questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items. Cisco's certification agreement bans preparing with compromised exam content, and penalties go up to a lifetime exam ban and loss of all your Cisco certifications. A real practice test explains why each answer is right; a dump only lists answers.

How to use CCNA practice tests

  • Start with a diagnostic. Take Training Camp's 50 questions early and note which of the six domains you miss: fundamentals, access, IP connectivity (the largest at 25%), IP services, security or automation.
  • Review every miss and every guess. For each missed question, rebuild the configuration in Packet Tracer and read the show output until you can explain what it proves. Cisco's "configure" objectives mean you must be able to do the task in a lab.
  • Track weak areas by domain and give security and automation their own pass. The same passer's real-exam results ranged from 60% in automation to 92% in IP connectivity, so a strong routing score can hide gaps elsewhere.
  • Save timed full runs for the last stretch. Use Boson's simulation mode full-screen for 120 minutes, doing the lab-style items first as the real exam does. Space the runs out and spend as long reviewing as testing.
  • Use flashcards and quizzes for recall, not for memorising repeats. Jeremy's Anki cards and end-of-video quizzes are good recall tools.

CCNA practice test FAQ

Are there free CCNA practice tests?

Yes. Training Camp has a free 50-question v1.1 test, Jeremy's IT Lab videos end with quiz questions, and sites such as Computing For Geeks publish 450+ free questions with explanations. Cisco does not offer a free practice exam; its official one costs $79.

Is Boson ExSim-Max harder than the real CCNA?

Most candidates say it is somewhat harder, and that it matches the exam's style rather than its questions. A low early score is normal; use the explanations to close gaps, not to memorise answers.

Do CCNA practice exams include lab questions?

Most are multiple choice only. Boson's simulation mode, Cisco Exam Review and Jeremy's $10 exams on his own site include lab-style items; for configuration practice itself, use Packet Tracer or Boson NetSim.

Will v1.1 practice exams still help if I take v2.0?

Mostly, because subnetting, VLANs, routing, ACLs and NAT carry over. What they will not cover is v2.0's added troubleshooting and AI content, and Boson says it will update after the exam launches.
