Most people should use DAMA's 40-question practice exam, free when you buy the exam, as the best guide to real difficulty, and add a Udemy question bank for volume. DAMA offers no practice exams for the specialist exams.

Great fit if you want a low-cost second bank after the official practice exam.

Poor fit if you want the largest bank or the most recent update; see the other two Udemy sets.

What to look for in a CDMP practice test

Make the official practice exam your yardstick. It is DAMA's own bank, free with the $311 exam. A DAMA trainer says other practice questions are extremely inconsistent, and candidates who found a third-party set much too easy were told to lean on the official one.
Match the DMBOK edition. DAMA made the DMBOK2 Revised Edition the exam reference from October 2024. None of the Udemy sets names the Revised Edition, and the 800-question set was last updated in September 2024.
Check the topic weights. Fundamentals covers 14 topics. Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Modelling and Design and Metadata are 11% each, and Reference and Master Data and Data Warehousing and BI are 10% each. Prefer sets that show or group by those weights.
Expect no practice for the specialist exams. DAMA says there are no practice exams for the specialist exams needed for Practitioner and Master. Prepare for those from the DMBOK chapters.
Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual CDMP questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items, not practice. Use products that write their own questions and explain every answer, so you learn the reasoning the exam tests.

How to use CDMP practice tests

Use a third-party set as your diagnostic. The official bank has only 100 questions, so repeats come fast. Run one Udemy set early to find weak topics and keep the official exam for later, once you have read the DMBOK chapters.
Group your misses by topic. One passing candidate sorted missed questions by DMBOK topic, found Data Quality, Master Data and Metadata were weakest, and spent the revision time there.
Repeat the official exam and read up on every miss. Candidates who passed describe retaking it, checking the book for each question they got wrong or guessed, and repeating until the results were steady.
Practise using the book against the clock. The exam is open book, but candidates say there is not time to look up every question. Mark the questions you are unsure of and search only those.

Is there a free CDMP practice test?

Yes, in effect. DAMA's 40-question Fundamentals practice exam is included free when you buy any CDMP exam, and costs $40 on its own. The other practice banks are paid Udemy courses.

Is the CDMP practice exam like the real exam?

A DAMA trainer and candidates who passed call it a good indicator. One 2024 candidate said the real exam's wording was harder and the questions were not really the same.

Are there practice exams for the CDMP specialist exams?

No. DAMA says it currently has no practice exams for the specialist exams, only for Data Management Fundamentals.

Are Udemy CDMP practice tests worth buying?

They are cheap extra volume, rated 4.2 to 4.4 on Udemy, but quality varies and none states that it follows the Revised Edition. Use them after the official practice exam shows where you stand.
