Information Systems Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP) Courses

Validates knowledge of building security into systems from requirements through disposal, using systems engineering and risk management.

A good ISSEP course follows the five-domain outline effective August 1, 2025 and teaches security engineering across a system's whole life, from requirements to disposal. We compared the main options on outline coverage, format, support and price.

Most people should start with ISC2's official self-paced course, which follows the current outline. Choose Training Camp's four-day boot camp when your employer pays and you want live instruction with the exam voucher included, and use the free flash cards for quick term review.

How to choose a ISSEP course

  • Match the current outline. ISSEP's outline changed on August 1, 2025. All three options here cover the current five-domain outline.
  • Give risk and lifecycle planning weight. The exam covers security engineering from requirements through operation and disposal. Even if you work in security, risk management and lifecycle planning need study time.
  • Check the access period. ISC2's course gives 90 or 180 days of access, and you can buy a 30- or 90-day extension before it ends. Training is not refundable.
  • Weigh the boot camp's price. Training Camp's $2,995 includes the $599 exam voucher. It is worth it only if an employer pays or you need a fixed schedule.

Recommended ISSEP course combinations

  • Lowest cost: ISC2's self-paced course (from $595) with the free official flash cards, then the exam ($599) booked separately.
  • Employer pays: Training Camp's four-day boot camp ($2,995), which includes the exam voucher and a free retake, with the free flash cards for review.
  • Course and exam together: ISC2's training bundled with one or two exam attempts, which suits you if you want one purchase for both.
