Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) Courses

Validates practical skills in Kubernetes cluster setup, workloads and scheduling, services and networking, storage, and troubleshooting.

A good CKA course has to build speed in a live cluster, because the exam is 2 hours of hands-on tasks, not multiple choice. We compared the main options on labs, curriculum coverage, format and price.

Most people should start with Mumshad's KodeKloud course on Udemy, which pairs 26 hours of video with browser labs at a one-time price. Choose KodeKloud's subscription for its mock exams, the Linux Foundation course for the official route and TechWorld with Nana for clear walkthroughs.

How to choose a CKA course

  • Practise in a real cluster. CKA is 2 hours of hands-on tasks in live clusters. Lectures alone do not build speed, so choose a course with labs and do them without looking at the solutions.
  • Match the current curriculum. The exam follows CKA curriculum v1.37. Pick a recently updated course; Mumshad's added admission controllers, autoscaling, CRDs and the Gateway API in 2025.
  • Save the Killer.sh sessions. The $445 exam includes two Killer.sh simulator sessions, and candidates consistently call them harder than the real exam. Use them in your last two weeks.
  • Pick one main course. Use one full course for the content, then spend the rest of your time on timed practice. Your first aim is speed with kubectl and YAML, not more theory.

Recommended CKA course combinations

  • Lowest cost: Mumshad's Udemy course, Killercoda's free browser drills and the free CK-X Simulator, then the two Killer.sh sessions included with your exam.
  • Subscription route: KodeKloud's course and its Ultimate CKA Mock Exam Series on one Standard plan ($35/month), then the Killer.sh sessions.
  • Employer pays: The Linux Foundation's LFS258 ($299), then the Killer.sh sessions that come with the exam.
  • Already run clusters: Skip the course. Do Killercoda drills for your gaps, then both Killer.sh sessions, or an extra Killer.sh simulator ($40).
