Claude Certified Architect – Foundations (CCAR-F) Practice Tests

Validates knowledge of designing production Claude solutions, including agent orchestration, tool integration, Claude Code, prompting and context management.

CCAR-F is 60 multiple-choice and multiple-response questions in 120 minutes, closed book and proctored, drawn from four of six production scenarios. The questions are design judgements: which agent pattern, tool design or Claude Code setting is best. We compared the main options on question style, timed mocks, volume and price.

Anthropic has retired its practice exam, so start with the 12 sample questions in the exam guide, add a free bank for volume, then run a timed full mock before you book.

Official sample questions

CCAR-F Exam Guide sample questions

Twelve questions from Anthropic's own practice test, three each from four scenarios, with the correct answer and the reason every other option fails.

Great fit if you want to see the exam's exact question style and difficulty before spending anything.

Poor fit if you need more than a dozen questions; move to CertSafari or a full-length mock.

Largest free bank

CCAR-F Practice Questions

A 480-question bank with explanations, filterable by domain or subdomain, plus 30 short lessons that cite Anthropic's documentation. Questions were last updated on 15 October 2026.

Great fit if you want a large free bank to drill by domain and read the documentation behind each answer.

Poor fit if you want a scored, timed full exam; use the Szymon Paluch mock or Frank Kane's exams.

Free timed mock

Claude Certified Architect Foundations mock exam

Sixty original questions in a study mode with explanations or a timed 120-minute exam mode, scored from 100 to 1,000 with a breakdown by domain. Every question has one correct answer.

Great fit if you want a free full-length timed run to practise pacing across the six scenarios.

Poor fit if you need multiple-response practice, which the real exam includes and this mock does not. The site also promotes the author's consulting program.

Drills and flashcards

Claude Architect Guide CCAR-F practice

Two hundred original questions tagged to all 30 objectives, with a guided test that explains each answer, a timed mock, flashcards and a mistakes deck. Built by a Claude Certified Architect.

Great fit if you want objective-by-objective drills and flashcards at no cost.

Poor fit if you want a mock that matches the real length; its timed mock has 65 items, not 60.

Six full exams

Claude Certified Architect Foundations - 6 Practice Exams

Six 60-question exams, each drawing four of the six scenarios as the real exam does, with explanations of why each wrong option fails and links to Anthropic's documentation.

Great fit if you want several full-length, scenario-based exams to run under timed conditions.

Poor fit if you need multiple-response practice, as every question has a single correct answer, or you want free options first (see CertSafari).

Domain quizzes

Claude Certified Architect Foundations CCAR-F Practice Exams

Fourteen quizzes: a randomized test, timed and review sets, and five domain quizzes, each question with explanations, reference links and cheat sheets. A free 20-question sampler is available.

Great fit if you want timed sets and domain quizzes from an established exam-prep brand, with a free sampler to try first.

What to look for in a CCAR-F practice test

  • Written to exam guide v1.0 and its six scenarios. The exam is 60 items in 120 minutes: four of six scenarios, weighted Agentic Architecture 27%, Claude Code 20%, Prompt Engineering 20%, Tool Design and MCP 18% and Context Management 15%. Choose banks tagged to those five domains and the six scenarios.
  • Multiple-response items, not only single-answer. The real exam mixes multiple-choice and multiple-response items, and each item states how many answers to pick. Most third-party banks use one correct answer per question, so expect to practise the multi-select style from the official samples.
  • Explanations that say why each distractor fails. The exam is about choosing the best of several plausible designs, such as a programmatic prerequisite instead of a stronger prompt. Prefer banks that explain every option and link to Anthropic's documentation.
  • Official wording first, third-party volume second. Anthropic retired its earlier practice exam when it moved to Pearson, and the 12 samples in the guide are its only official questions. Every other bank is independent, so use them for volume and pacing.
  • Enough fresh questions to avoid memorising. A full exam is 60 questions. Free banks of 200 to 480 questions give room for several timed runs and domain drills without seeing the same item twice.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual CCAR-F questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items. Anthropic's exam policy bans using published exam questions or answers and lets Anthropic revoke your certification and bar you from future exams. A real practice test explains why each answer is right; a dump only lists answers.

How to use CCAR-F practice tests

  • Take the 12 official samples cold. They show the real format and difficulty, and your misses point to the domains to drill first.
  • Review every explanation, including lucky guesses. Write why each rejected option fails. The exam rewards seeing the failure mode in a distractor, not recognising a keyword.
  • Track weak areas by domain. Anthropic's score report shows percent-correct by domain, so keep the same tally from your drills and give extra time to the heaviest domain, Agentic Architecture.
  • Run one or two timed 60-question exams late. Two hours for 60 items is about two minutes each, and scenario stems are long. Practise flagging a hard item and moving on.
  • Be wary of rising practice scores. One passer scored about 850 and then 930 on Anthropic's earlier practice exam, whose pool repeated, and then 738 on the real exam, which felt harder. Judge progress on questions you have not seen.

CCAR-F practice test FAQ

Is there an official CCAR-F practice exam?

Not at the moment. Anthropic's FAQ says the practice exam on the previous platform was retired when certification moved to Pearson. The exam guide contains 12 sample questions with explanations.

Are there free CCAR-F practice tests?

Yes. CertSafari offers 480 questions, Szymon Paluch has a free 60-question timed mock, Claude Architect Guide has 200 questions and a timed mock, and Tutorials Dojo has a free 20-question sampler. All are unofficial.

Are CCAR-F practice exams harder than the real exam?

Passers who used Anthropic's earlier practice exam said the real exam felt harder, and some found practice distractors too obvious, with the real options all plausible. Treat third-party scores as a coverage check, not a prediction.

How many CCAR-F practice exams should I take?

Two or three timed 60-question runs on questions you have not seen, each followed by a full review, is a sensible target. Domain drills between runs are more useful than repeating one exam.
