Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) Practice Tests

Validates knowledge of US banking compliance, including consumer protection rules, BSA/AML requirements and compliance management systems.

CRCM is 200 multiple-choice questions in a maximum of four hours. Questions have four options, and the hardest ask what a compliance manager should do first or which answer is best. We compared the main options on official coverage, sample questions and price.

Most people should start with ABA's five free sample questions. ABA sells its practice exams only inside the Online Prep course; there is no established third-party bank, and ABA says it does not authorize third-party materials.

Sample CRCM Exam Questions

Five representative four-option questions with an answer key, which shows the 'first or best' style. The key has no explanations.

Great fit if you want to see the question style before you pay for the Online Prep course.

Poor fit if you need enough questions to judge readiness; the practice exams in Online Prep are the next step.

Official practice exams

CRCM Exam Online Prep

A self-paced course with video lessons, readings, an instructor discussion board and practice exams with self-assessment tools. Candidates count three practice exams and mostly find them easier than the real exam.

Great fit if you want ABA's own question style and the course also counts as a training option toward eligibility.

Poor fit if you only want practice questions; the exams are not sold separately, and candidates add the Reference Guide for technical detail.

What to look for in a CRCM practice test

  • Check coverage against the June 2026 outline. Exams from June 2026 use a revised three-domain outline: Core Compliance 37%, Foundational Compliance 37% (23% primary and 14% ancillary rules) and Compliance Management System 26%. Check any practice set against it.
  • Look for first-or-best judgment questions. The exam is 200 multiple-choice questions in up to 4 hours. Passers say many questions ask what to do first or which answer is best when more than one is technically correct. Read those words twice.
  • Do not trust course scores alone. Several 2026 candidates failed after scoring 90 or more on ABA's course practice exams, and one said the real exam felt much harder than the course. Others found the real exam in line with the practice exams, so treat course scores as a guide to style, not readiness.
  • Expect technical depth from June 2026. Candidates who sat in June describe a technical-heavy exam with more compliance-management-system content than ancillary rules. Pair the course with the Reference Guide and the outline.
  • Stay with ABA's own materials. ABA warns that certification materials on third-party platforms are not authorized. Sites advertising recalled exam questions are unreliable and risk breaching ABA's exam rules.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual CRCM questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items. The ABA bans possessing copies of any current or past exam and can deny certification and bar you from its exams. A real practice test explains why each answer is right; a dump only lists answers.

How to use CRCM practice tests

  • Take the free sample cold. Answer ABA's five sample questions before you study, and notice which ones turn on first-or-best wording.
  • Review misses, then retest a few days later. One candidate retook each practice exam three days after reviewing it and scored far higher. Repeat scores partly reflect memory, so judge yourself on first attempts.
  • Learn regulations by letter and short name. A 2026 candidate noted some questions give only the regulation letter, not its full name, mostly for the lower-tier rules.
  • Add the Reference Guide for technical detail. Passers say the course videos are brief and the Reference Guide fills in thresholds and timing rules. They also say not everything in the Guide is tested, so use the outline to decide what to skip.
  • Plan your pace for 200 questions. That is about 70 seconds a question. One passer finished a first pass in two hours and used the rest of the time to review flagged items.
