Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC-100) Practice Tests

Validates expert knowledge of designing Zero Trust strategy, security operations, identity, compliance, and infrastructure, application and data security.

SC-100 runs 100 minutes (120 if it includes labs), and Microsoft says most of its exams have 40 to 60 questions. It asks for the best security design for a business scenario across identity, security operations, infrastructure and data, with a case study. We compared the main options on official coverage, case-study practice and price.

Few publishers cover it, so most people should start with Microsoft's free 50-question practice assessment and its free interactive case studies. Then add MeasureUp's official test for a timed full run.

Free first check

SC-100 Practice Assessment

Free questions from Microsoft with an answer, a rationale and a Learn link for each, then a score breakdown. It is a short first check; Microsoft says the exam can add case studies and other question types.

Great fit if you want a free first check of your gaps across the four skill areas.

Poor fit if you want a timed full run or long case-study scenarios; use MeasureUp and Microsoft Learn's case studies.

Official timed set

SC-100 Official Practice Test

Microsoft's official practice partner, with a timed Certification Mode that holds answers until the end and a customizable Practice Mode. Explanations cover correct and incorrect options. Last updated November 2025.

Great fit if you want a full timed set from Microsoft's own partner, the best-known paid option for this exam.

Poor fit if you want long case-study scenarios like the exam's; add Microsoft Learn's interactive case studies.

What to look for in a SC-100 practice test

  • Know the October 21, 2026 update. Microsoft updates the English SC-100 on October 21, 2026, with minor changes to security operations and Microsoft 365 security. The four domains keep their weights (20-25%, 25-30%, 25-30%, 20-25%), and localized exams follow about eight weeks later.
  • Look for design recommendations, not configuration steps. Questions ask which design or control best meets the stated requirements, often tied to Zero Trust, the Microsoft Cybersecurity Reference Architecture, the Cloud Security Benchmark or the Cloud Adoption Framework. Pick sets whose explanations name the framework behind each answer.
  • Plan separately for the case study. Candidates report around 48 questions plus a case study of about six, and describe the case study as long and time-consuming. Microsoft says its practice assessments do not show every exam question type, so use Microsoft Learn's free interactive case studies for this format.
  • Check breadth across all four domains. The exam spans Azure, Microsoft 365, endpoints, IoT and OT, and other clouds, and candidates say it is wide rather than deep. Choose a set that spreads questions across identity, security operations, infrastructure and data.
  • Treat practice scores as a gap finder. Candidates who reached 78-90% on practice sets still failed or found the exam harder, so use results to list weak topics instead of judging readiness.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual SC-100 questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items. Microsoft's exam policies count brain dumps as cheating and let Microsoft revoke your certifications and bar you from future exams. A real practice test explains why each answer is right; a dump only lists answers.

How to use SC-100 practice tests

  • Take Microsoft's assessment cold. It is free and repeatable. Note which skill area is weakest, then read the matching Learn module instead of retaking it straight away.
  • Name the framework behind each answer. For every question, write down whether the logic came from Zero Trust, MCRA, MCSB, CAF or the Well-Architected Framework. One candidate who prepared with MeasureUp found it did not go deep enough on these frameworks.
  • Do the Learn case studies before a timed run. Microsoft Learn has interactive case studies on identity and data, endpoints and infrastructure, and apps and data. They are the closest free practice for the exam's long scenario.
  • Run MeasureUp's Certification Mode in the last two weeks. Sit a full timed run, then review every miss. Candidates describe MeasureUp as challenging, so read the result as a topic list.
  • Practise using Learn under time. Learn is available during the exam, and candidates say it earned them points but also ate time. Decide in practice when a search is worth it.

SC-100 practice test FAQ

Is there a free SC-100 practice test?

Yes. Microsoft's practice assessment is free and repeatable, MeasureUp has a free demo, and Microsoft Learn offers free interactive case studies. Microsoft's exam sandbox shows the exam interface.

Is SC-100 harder than the practice tests?

Candidates generally say so. Several scored 78-90% on practice sets and then failed or found the exam harder, because it tests design judgment across a wide range of Microsoft security products.

Which SC-100 practice tests are worth buying?

Tutorials Dojo has no SC-100 set, and the 2026 Udemy question sets are new with almost no ratings.

Do SC-100 practice tests cover the October 2026 update?

The update is minor, touching security operations and Microsoft 365 security, so existing sets still apply. Check Microsoft's study guide for the new wording before your exam.
