Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) Practice Tests

Validates foundational knowledge of security principles, governance, access control, network and cloud security, and security operations.

CC questions are scenario-based and often ask for the first or best action across five domains, and the exam is adaptive: 100 to 125 questions in two hours. We compared the main options on question style, question volume and price.

Start with ISC2's free flashcards and CertPreps' three free exams, then add ThorTeaches' 1,700-question bundle or Pocket Prep for volume.

Free official flashcards

Official CC Flash Cards

ISC2's own interactive flashcards with instant feedback, for drilling terminology. ISC2 also offers a free 10-item CC quiz that suggests next steps.

Great fit if you want an official, free check of the basics before paying for questions.

Poor fit if you need scenario questions or timed sets; use CertPreps or Pocket Prep.

Free full-length exams

ISC2 CC Practice Exams

Fifteen full-length, scenario-style practice exams with explanations, the first three free. Passers say the questions are harder than ISC2's own course assessments.

Great fit if you want free full-length sets and a cheap way to add more.

Poor fit if you want a mobile app or flashcards; use Pocket Prep.

Videos plus questions

Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) Complete Bundle

A video course bundled with 1,700 questions with explanations, 2,500 flashcards and a study guide, updated for the September 2026 outline. Twenty-five sample questions are free on the page.

Great fit if you want a course and a large question bank for one price.

Poor fit if you only want practice questions; use CertPreps or Pocket Prep.

Short phone sessions

ISC2 CC Question Bank

Quizzes, timed sets and a mock exam mode in a mobile and web app, with explanations and drills on missed questions and weakest domains.

Great fit if you study in short sessions on your phone and want flexible access.

Poor fit if you want free full-length exams; start with CertPreps.

What to look for in a CC practice test

  • Match the outline. The CC outline changed on September 1, 2026: it keeps five domains but now includes a security governance domain. Pocket Prep and ThorTeaches say they follow it, while the ISC2 flashcards page and CertPreps still describe the earlier chapters, such as a separate business continuity and incident response domain.
  • Know that the exam is adaptive. CC is 100 to 125 questions in two hours, you cannot skip a question and return to it, and the exam can end early. Time your practice sets at about a minute per question.
  • Look for first-and-best-action scenarios. A January 2026 passer describes questions built on first and primary actions rather than definitions, and others find ISC2's own course assessments worded more plainly than the exam. Prefer banks that explain why each wrong option fails.
  • Use ISC2's free material for the basics. ISC2 offers free flashcards and a 10-item quiz but no official practice exam. Sybex's CC study guide adds a full-length practice test, and ISC2's paid self-paced course includes assessments.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual ISC2 CC questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items. ISC2's exam agreement bans accessing exam content before the exam and lets ISC2 cancel your score, revoke every certification you hold and bar you from earning more. A real practice test explains why each answer is right; a dump only lists answers.

How to use CC practice tests

  • Take a diagnostic before heavy study. Try ISC2's 10-item quiz or a free CertPreps exam cold, and note which domains are thin.
  • Explain every option. For each question, say why the best answer fits and why the others fail, including questions you got right.
  • Log misses by domain. Write each miss against its domain, review that topic, then retest it with different questions instead of repeating the same set.
  • Treat scores as a guide to gaps. Candidates report both easy passes after strong bank scores and surprise questions outside the course, so use two different banks and keep reviewing misses.
  • Run timed sets in the last week. Do a few 100-question sets at one minute per question, without going back, to build the pace the real exam needs.

CC practice test FAQ

Are there free CC practice tests?

Yes. ISC2 offers free flashcards and a 10-item quiz, CertPreps gives three free full-length exams, ThorTeaches shows 25 sample questions, and Pocket Prep lets you try 30 questions.

Does ISC2 sell an official CC practice exam?

No standalone one. ISC2's self-paced course includes pre-course, post-course and final assessments, but free enrollment closed on May 20, 2026; people who already hold an exam code can use it until December 31, 2026.

Are CC practice tests harder than the real exam?

It depends on the source. Candidates call Pocket Prep and ISC2's course assessments easier or clearer than the exam, and CertPreps harder than ISC2's assessments. Several say the real exam has questions the course never covered.

How many CC practice tests should I take?

ISC2 gives no number. Candidates usually combine one large bank with a few timed full-length sets near the end, and review every answer rather than repeat attempts.
