Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) Courses

Validates knowledge of administering Azure identities, governance, storage, compute and networking, and monitoring cloud infrastructure.

A good AZ-104 course follows the five skill areas of the April 2026 outline and gets you building in the Azure portal, because the exam asks which setting or service meets a need. We compared the main options on coverage, hands-on practice and price.

Most people should start with the free Microsoft Learn course and its lab instructions, and add Scott Duffy's Udemy course if they learn best from video. Watch John Savill's free cram for the big picture, and choose the Pluralsight path only when your employer already pays for it.

Great fit if you want structured hands-on practice in your own subscription

Poor fit if you cannot use an Azure subscription or want lessons; choose Microsoft Learn

How to choose a AZ-104 course

  • Match the April 2026 outline. The skills measured changed on April 17, 2026. Microsoft Learn and Scott Duffy's course (updated October 2026) follow the current outline; John Savill's cram was recorded in 2024.
  • Build every service yourself. AZ-104 asks you to choose settings, so watching is not enough. Work through the lab instructions in your own Azure subscription until you know where each setting lives.
  • Use one main course. Take either Microsoft Learn or a video course as your main source and add a second only for areas that do not click, such as storage or networking.
  • Practise with Microsoft Learn open. Microsoft Learn is available during the exam, so practise finding answers in it quickly instead of memorising every detail.

Recommended AZ-104 course combinations

  • Lowest cost: Microsoft Learn with the lab instructions, then Microsoft's free AZ-104 practice assessment and Tutorials Dojo's practice exams ($15 for one year).
  • Prefer video: Scott Duffy's course ($150) with the lab instructions, then Tutorials Dojo's AZ-104 practice exams ($15) to find your gaps.
  • Already administer Azure: Skim Microsoft Learn by skill area, watch John Savill's free cram, and finish with MeasureUp's AZ-104 practice test ($99 list).
  • Employer pays: The Pluralsight path ($35/month) for video, labs and a practice exam, plus MeasureUp's practice test ($99 list) for a final check.
