Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) Practice Tests

Validates knowledge of administering Azure identities, governance, storage, compute and networking, and monitoring cloud infrastructure.

AZ-104 runs 100 minutes, and Microsoft says most of its exams have 40 to 60 questions. Expect long Azure scenarios with drag-and-drop, hot-area and case-study items, with Microsoft Learn open during the exam. We compared the main options on exam-style wording, question volume and price.

Most people should start with Microsoft's free practice assessment for a baseline. Use MeasureUp as your most demanding realistic bank and Tutorials Dojo for cheaper timed sets.

AZ-104 practice assessment

Microsoft's own practice questions, written by the team that builds the exam, with a rationale and learning links for every answer. Candidates consistently find it much easier than the real exam.

Great fit if you want a free baseline and a quick read on which skill areas need work.

Poor fit if you want exam-length scenarios or a timed run; move on to MeasureUp or Tutorials Dojo.

Exam-like scenarios

Great fit if you want a timed run that matches the exam's long scenarios and a score report by skill area.

Poor fit if you are on a tight budget or want a gentler first pass; start with Tutorials Dojo.

Low-cost timed sets

Extra question volume

AZ-104 Microsoft Azure Administrator Practice Tests

A practice-test bank with explanations and a free 15-question test. Candidate reports are mixed, from questions that resembled the exam to answer keys that looked wrong.

Great fit if you want a cheap extra bank and a free sample before paying.

Poor fit if you want one bank you can trust without cross-checking answers; use MeasureUp or Tutorials Dojo first.

What to look for in a AZ-104 practice test

  • Written for the April 17, 2026 skills list. AZ-104 has five skill areas: identities and governance, storage, compute, networking, and monitoring. MeasureUp lists a June 2026 update and Scott Duffy's set is written to the April 2026 outline; older banks follow the earlier list.
  • Long scenarios and several question types. Expect multiple choice, drag-and-drop, hot-area and a case study. Candidates also report PowerShell and CLI completion items on MeasureUp. Learn is open during the exam, so a bank should train you to find answers there quickly.
  • Explanations for every answer option. Many AZ-104 questions turn on one setting or limit. MeasureUp and Tutorials Dojo both explain the options and link to Microsoft documentation, which is what you want when you miss a question.
  • Enough questions for full timed runs. The exam has 40 to 60 questions in 100 minutes. Banks range from 100 questions (Duffy) to about 200 (Tutorials Dojo, Whizlabs and MeasureUp), so plan for one or two banks rather than one.
  • Know how hard each bank is. Candidates call the Learn assessment far easier than the exam, Tutorials Dojo easier than MeasureUp, and the real exam somewhere between the two.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual AZ-104 questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items. Microsoft's exam policies count brain dumps as cheating and let Microsoft revoke your certifications and bar you from future exams. A real practice test explains why each answer is right; a dump only lists answers.

How to use AZ-104 practice tests

  • Start with the free assessment. Take Microsoft's practice assessment after your first pass through a course, so you can see which of the five skill areas to build next.
  • Build what you miss in your own subscription. AZ-104 questions ask which Azure setting or service meets a requirement. Create the storage account, peering or policy yourself, then re-answer the question.
  • Review every explanation, including right answers. Read why each wrong option fails. Candidates warn that you can get a question right for the wrong reason, which a differently worded scenario will expose.
  • Practise with Learn open and keep time for the case study. The exam is open book on Microsoft Learn, but searching is slow. One candidate who failed on timing had too little time left for the case study at the end, so leave at least 10 minutes for it.
  • Do not memorise repeats. The Learn assessment repeats questions, so a 90% score there says little. Use fresh MeasureUp or Tutorials Dojo sets for your late timed runs.

AZ-104 practice test FAQ

Are there free AZ-104 practice tests?

Yes. Microsoft's practice assessment on Learn is free with a Microsoft sign-in, Tutorials Dojo offers a free 20-question sampler, and Whizlabs offers a free 15-question test. Microsoft's exam sandbox (aka.ms/examdemo) shows the question formats.

Are AZ-104 practice exams harder than the real exam?

It depends on the product. Microsoft's assessment is much easier than the exam, Tutorials Dojo is easier than MeasureUp, and candidates put the real exam between Tutorials Dojo and MeasureUp.

How many AZ-104 practice exams should I take?

Take the free assessment once, then two or three full timed sets from one or two banks, each followed by a full review. Fresh questions near your exam date tell you more than retaking sets you remember.

Does AZ-104 have a case study?

Yes. Microsoft lists case studies among the question types, and candidates report the case study at the end of the exam, so practise pacing so you keep time for it.
