Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900) Practice Tests

Validates foundational knowledge of core data concepts, relational and non-relational data, and analytics workloads on Azure.

DP-900 runs 45 minutes, and Microsoft says most of its exams have 40 to 60 questions. It asks you to match data types, workloads and Azure services in short scenario questions. We compared the main options on official coverage, question difficulty and price.

Most people should start with Microsoft's free practice assessment, which several passers say was all they needed. Add MeasureUp or a cheaper timed set from Whizlabs if you want more volume before you book.

DP-900 Practice Assessment

Microsoft's own practice questions, with an answer, rationale and reading links for every question on the score report. You can retake it as often as you like.

Great fit if you want the closest thing to Microsoft's wording and a diagnostic before paying.

Poor fit if you want several full-length timed sets; MeasureUp and Whizlabs give more volume.

Official timed practice

Practice Test DP-900: Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals

Microsoft's official practice-test partner. 118 questions across the four skill areas, a timed certification mode and a customizable practice mode, with explanations and references for each answer.

Great fit if you want an official timed run and detailed explanations, and the price is not a concern.

Poor fit if you want questions written after the November 2024 outline; this set dates from March 2024.

Low-cost timed sets

Microsoft Azure DP-900 Practice Tests

Two 55-question practice tests, a 55-question final test and topic quizzes with explanations, plus a free 15-question test. The page shows a practice question revision in 2026.

Great fit if you want low-cost timed sets that follow the four skill areas.

Poor fit if you want Microsoft's official wording; use the Learn assessment or MeasureUp.

Harder extra exams

DP-900 Azure Data Fundamentals 100% Original Practice Exam

Five timed tests of about 40 questions, written to pair with Scott Duffy's DP-900 course and based on the November 2024 outline. Last updated July 2025.

Great fit if you took the matching course and want more questions, and can handle some off-syllabus detail.

Poor fit if you want questions that match the exam closely; candidates say these go further on networking and service limits.

What to look for in a DP-900 practice test

  • Know which outline a set follows. DP-900 has four skill areas as of 21 July 2026, and the changes since the previous version are minor. MeasureUp was last updated in March 2024 and Scott Duffy's set uses the November 2024 outline, so both are still broadly usable but older than the Whizlabs refresh in 2026.
  • Expect short scenario questions. Questions ask which data type, workload or Azure service fits a situation, such as batch versus streaming, or Azure SQL Managed Instance versus Azure SQL Database. Choose sets that explain the wrong options as well as the right one.
  • Watch for questions beyond the syllabus. The exam is fundamentals level. Candidates say Scott Duffy's tests include networking and service-limit detail that does not appear on the real exam, so judge a miss against the Microsoft skills list.
  • Look for Cosmos DB, Power BI and analytics coverage. Analytics is 25 to 30 percent and non-relational data 15 to 20 percent. Passers mention Cosmos DB APIs, Power BI visuals and the roles of database administrators, data engineers and analysts.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual DP-900 questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items. Microsoft's exam policies count brain dumps as cheating and let Microsoft revoke your certifications and bar you from future exams. A real practice test explains why each answer is right; a dump only lists answers.

How to use DP-900 practice tests

  • Start with the Microsoft assessment. Take it before studying as a diagnostic, then again after the Learn path. Several passers say retaking it until they scored consistently high was enough.
  • Read the explanation for every miss and every guess. For each miss, note which service or data concept the question tested and why the other options fit a different workload.
  • Look at the main services in the portal. Create a storage account, an Azure SQL database and a Cosmos DB account, and open Power BI. Seeing them makes the choice questions easier.
  • Add a paid set only if you want more volume. One of MeasureUp or Whizlabs is plenty for a fundamentals exam. Do it timed in the last few days and avoid repeating the same questions.

DP-900 practice test FAQ

Are there free DP-900 practice tests?

Yes. Microsoft's free practice assessment on the DP-900 certification page is the main one, and Whizlabs includes a free 15-question test on its DP-900 page.

Is the Microsoft Learn practice assessment enough for DP-900?

Passers who scored 895 and 925 say Microsoft Learn plus its practice assessment was enough. If you want more volume, add one paid set rather than several.

Is Scott Duffy's DP-900 practice exam harder than the real exam?

Candidates who used it say yes: it includes networking and service-limit detail that did not appear on the exam. It is good for stretching your knowledge, but a low score there is not a verdict on the real exam.

Does DP-900 cover Microsoft Fabric?

The analytics objective names Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric. Passers describe basic awareness at most, with the exam focused on relational and non-relational data, Cosmos DB and Power BI.
