How to choose a CGRC course

  • Match the June 2024 outline. ISC2's CGRC outline has been in effect since June 15, 2024, with seven domains. The courses here follow it.
  • Learn the RMF task by task. Questions test who is responsible for each RMF task. Choose a course organized around the RMF steps and read NIST SP 800-37 for the roles.
  • Add scenario practice. CGRC questions are scenario-based best-answer items, and few dedicated question banks exist. ISC2's course adds study questions, and Pocket Prep adds 500 more.
  • Pick one main course. Use one full course plus the NIST publication, and keep the flash cards for review rather than as a second course.

Recommended CGRC course combinations

  • Lowest cost: Cyvitrix's course ($20) with NIST SP 800-37 (free), ISC2's free Knowledge Check and its free flash cards.
  • Official materials: ISC2's online self-paced course (90 or 180 days) with ISC2's free flash cards for terminology.
  • More practice: Cyvitrix's course ($20) plus Pocket Prep's ISC2 CGRC Question Bank ($50 for 3 months) to find weak domains.
  • Already in GRC: Skim NIST SP 800-37 to check the RMF tasks, then use Pocket Prep ($21/month) on the domains you miss.
