ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) Practice Tests

Validates knowledge of quality auditing, including audit fundamentals, planning and performing audits, auditor competencies and quality tools.

CQA is an open-book exam of 165 multiple-choice questions (150 scored) in 5 hours 18 minutes: best-answer items where two options often look right, plus audit-document case studies. The 2026 outline took effect in April 2026. We compared the main options on question style, mock exams and price.

CQA Free Mock Exam (25 questions)

A 25-question test in exam mode: you can flag questions and change answers, and your score and explanations appear only after you submit. Each question links to a Body of Knowledge section.

Great fit if you want a free feel for CQA best-answer wording and exam-style navigation before buying a bank.

Poor fit if you need full-length volume; use ASQ's question bank.

Official question bank

CQA Question Bank

Three 150-question sets, each usable as a timed exam simulation or in review mode with explanations. A May 2026 passer found it useful for question style and case studies but flagged some wrong or out-of-outline questions.

Great fit if you want the exam owner's questions at full length and will check any doubtful answer against the handbook.

Poor fit if you want a simulator that matches the real exam's flagging and navigation; the ASQ simulator shows no question number (try the Quality Gurus free test).

Extra full-length mocks

CQA (Certified Quality Auditor) Practice Tests

Two timed 150-question mocks and a 20-question warm-up, each question explained. Last updated June 2025, so it follows the 2019 outline and has more quality-tools questions than the 2026 exam.

Great fit if you want cheaper extra full-length runs with explanations after working through ASQ's bank.

Poor fit if you want the 2026 section mix, which has more auditing-fundamentals questions; ASQ's bank is built for it.

What to look for in a CQA practice test

  • Written for the 2026 outline. The 2026 Body of Knowledge applies from the April 2026 exam window. Auditing fundamentals grew from 28 to 37 scored questions and quality tools shrank from 24 to 15, so a bank written for 2019 over-tests tools and under-tests fundamentals.
  • Best-answer questions and case studies. Every question has four choices and often two look right. About 10 to 15 percent of the exam is case studies, each with a short audit scenario and supporting documents such as memos and reports, so look for scenario items rather than definitions.
  • Explanations you can check against the handbook. ASQ says some questions in its bank were drafted with AI and reviewed by CQA holders, and one 2026 passer flagged several wrong or out-of-outline items. Prefer a bank with explanations, and settle doubtful answers in the handbook.
  • Volume for full runs. The exam is 165 questions (150 scored, 15 unscored) in 5 hours 18 minutes of exam time. ASQ's bank has three 150-question sets and the Quality Gurus mocks add two more.
  • A simulator that behaves like the real one. One passer found the ASQ simulator gives no question number, flagging or way to change an answer, unlike the real exam. Practise navigation in a free exam-mode test that lets you flag and go back.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual CQA questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items. ASQ's testing agreement bans using leaked exam material and lets ASQ cancel scores and revoke your certifications. A real practice test explains why each answer is right; a dump only lists answers.

How to use CQA practice tests

  • Start with a short diagnostic. Take the free 25-question test or one ASQ set in review mode, then note which of the five sections you miss most: auditing fundamentals, audit process, auditor competencies, program management or quality tools.
  • Review every explanation, including the ones you got right. Passers describe the hard part as choosing the best of two or three reasonable answers. For each miss, write why your pick was weaker, not only why the key is right.
  • Practise with your bound references. The exam is open book, so work some sets with your tabbed handbook or notes at your side and time how long it takes to find a topic.
  • Plan one full timed run late. Sit a 150-question set in exam-simulation mode near your date and plan for the full sitting. One December 2025 passer used the whole five hours with one break and went through the exam three times.
  • Compare scores within one product and do not memorise repeats. Banks vary in difficulty, so judge progress by your trend inside one product. Once you remember a set's answers it stops measuring anything; move to unseen questions.

CQA practice test FAQ

Are there free CQA practice tests?

ASQ does not publish a free question set; its CQA Question Bank is paid. Quality Gurus offers a free 25-question exam-mode test with no registration.

Is the ASQ CQA question bank worth buying?

Passers use it for question style and the case-study format, and it is the only bank built on the 2026 outline. One passer reported several wrong or out-of-outline questions, so check doubtful answers against the handbook.

How many CQA practice exams should I take?

Two full 150-question sets, each followed by a full review, is a sensible target. ASQ's bank has three sets and the Quality Gurus mocks add two more, so you can avoid repeating one you remember.

Do CQA practice tests match the 2026 exam?

ASQ's question bank is built for the 2026 Body of Knowledge. The Quality Gurus Udemy tests were last updated in June 2025, so they follow the 2019 outline and weight quality tools more heavily than the 2026 exam does.
