Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB) Practice Tests

Validates knowledge of the DMAIC method, lean tools and the statistics needed to lead Six Sigma process-improvement projects.

CSSGB is a 110-question, open-book multiple-choice exam (100 scored) in 4 hours 18 minutes. Many questions test whether you can find and apply the right tool or formula from your bound references. We compared the main options on question style, official coverage and price.

Most people should start with Quality Gurus' free 50 questions. Use ASQ's three-exam question bank as your main check, and add the ASQ Study Guide or a cheaper bank for extra reps.

CSSGB Free Practice Tests

Two free sets of 25 questions: a review set that explains each answer as you go and a timed mock of 60 minutes. Both run in the browser.

Great fit if you want to see exam-style CSSGB questions and find your weak sections before paying for anything.

Poor fit if you need exam-length runs; use the ASQ Question Bank.

Poor fit if you want printed questions you can mark up (see the ASQ Study Guide) or cheaper volume (see Quality Gurus).

What to look for in a CSSGB practice test

  • Built for the 2022 Body of Knowledge. The exam has 100 scored questions: Overview 11, Define 20, Measure 20, Analyze 18, Improve 16, Control 15. Pick a bank that names the 2022 BoK and spreads questions like this, with Define and Measure each about a fifth of the paper.
  • Questions that make you look things up. The exam is open book, so it rewards finding the right page fast. Candidates say real questions reword the handbook's options, and that the skill is knowing where an answer sits (a chart, a summary box, a glossary). Practise with your bound reference open.
  • Worked solutions for the statistics. Capability indexes, hypothesis tests and control charts are the calculation topics. Prefer a product whose solutions show the working: the ASQ Study Guide cites the BoK for each answer, and QCI sells a separate Solutions text.
  • Enough volume for two or three full runs. A full sitting is 100 scored questions plus 10 unscored in 4 hours 18 minutes. ASQ gives three 100-question sets, Quality Gurus draws a new 100-question mock from 318 questions, and QCI offers 1,000.
  • Official wording first, third-party volume second. Candidates call ASQ's question bank harder and more calculation-heavy than the real exam, and the study guide close in wording but easier. Use ASQ's sets to judge readiness and a cheaper bank for extra reps.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual CSSGB questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items. ASQ's testing agreement bans using leaked exam material and lets ASQ cancel scores and revoke your certifications. A real practice test explains why each answer is right; a dump only lists answers.

How to use CSSGB practice tests

  • Start with a short diagnostic. Take a free 25-question set before buying anything, then score yourself by section so Define and Measure, the two biggest blocks, get checked first.
  • Practise with your real reference. The exam allows only bound references, including bound notes. Tab your handbook or primer now and use it in every timed run so you learn how long a formula or definition takes to find.
  • Review every miss, and re-work the maths. For capability, hypothesis-test and control-chart questions, redo the calculation by hand with an allowed calculator and note which table or formula you used. Candidates report from under 10 to about 20 calculation questions on the real exam.
  • Run two or three full timed sets late. Candidates describe a first pass through the paper, flagging unsure items, then a second pass in the books. Practise that routine within the 4 hours 18 minutes.
  • Do not memorise repeats. ASQ lets you retake each set for 365 days. Once you remember answers a retake measures memory, so move to a fresh bank or a randomised mock.

CSSGB practice test FAQ

Are there free CSSGB practice tests?

ASQ does not publish a free sample exam; its question bank and study guide are paid. Quality Gurus gives 50 free exam-style questions (a 25-question review set and a 25-question, 60-minute mock) with explanations and no signup.

Are CSSGB practice exams harder than the real exam?

Candidates describe ASQ's question bank as harder than the real exam, with explanations that are long and calculation-heavy. Study-guide questions are simpler, but the real exam rewords the answer options more than the book does.

How many CSSGB practice exams should I take?

Two or three full 100-question runs on questions you have not seen, each followed by a full review, is a sensible target. ASQ's bank has three sets and Quality Gurus draws a fresh mock each attempt.

Can I use notes and books in the CSSGB exam?

Yes. The exam is open book, but references and notes must be bound (stitched, glued, ring or spiral binders) and stay bound. Build and tab your reference before you start timed practice.
