Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) Practice Tests

Validates knowledge of building security into software, from requirements and design to testing, deployment and supply chain.

CSSLP is 125 items in 3 hours: multiple choice plus advanced item types. Questions ask for the best secure-lifecycle decision in a scenario. Passers describe many as plain definitions and others as vague, with two or three plausible answers. We compared the main options on question style, domain practice and price.

Most people should start with ISC2's free quiz and flashcards, then use Pocket Prep for explained questions by domain. Dedicated CSSLP banks are few, so keep expectations modest.

Quick readiness check

CSSLP Knowledge Check

ISC2's own short quiz to gauge your secure software lifecycle readiness and see what to focus on next. It is a quick first look, not a practice bank.

Great fit if you want a free official taste of the questions before paying for anything.

Poor fit if you need volume or timed practice; use Pocket Prep.

Free official flashcards

Official CSSLP Flash Cards

ISC2's interactive flashcards across all eight CSSLP domains, with immediate feedback. They drill terms and concepts rather than exam-style scenarios.

Great fit if you want a free official check on secure lifecycle terminology before buying questions.

Poor fit if you need scenario questions or timed practice; use Pocket Prep.

Domain quizzes on mobile

ISC2 CSSLP Question Bank

Domain quizzes, timed 5- and 10-minute quizzes, a weakest-subject quiz and explanations in a mobile and web app. Passers recommend it, though one failed candidate scored about 90% here and found the exam vaguer.

Great fit if you want explained questions by domain in short sessions on your phone.

Poor fit if you want full 125-question timed runs; this app is built for short quizzes.

What to look for in a CSSLP practice test

  • Match the September 2023 outline. The outline in effect since September 15, 2023 has eight domains, including a software supply chain domain, weighted 12%, 11%, 13%, 15%, 14%, 14%, 11% and 10%. Material written earlier uses different domain names, so compare the product's domain list with ISC2's.
  • Expect best-answer wording. Passers describe some questions as simple definitions and others as vague, with two or three technically reasonable answers and a best one from the CSSLP point of view. Prefer questions with explanations that say why the other options fail.
  • Expect few dedicated banks. ISC2 offers free flashcards and a 10-question quiz, and Pocket Prep is the bank passers mention most. Udemy has several CSSLP sets, but they carry few ratings and none stood out in candidate threads.
  • Know the format. CSSLP is 125 questions in three hours at a fixed length, not adaptive, with multiple choice and ISC2's advanced item types. One passer with development experience finished in 67 minutes.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual CSSLP questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items. ISC2's exam agreement bans accessing exam content before the exam and lets ISC2 cancel your score, revoke every certification you hold and bar you from earning more. A real practice test explains why each answer is right; a dump only lists answers.

How to use CSSLP practice tests

  • Take a diagnostic first. Try ISC2's 10-question quiz and a Pocket Prep quiz cold to see which domains are thin. Developers often find lifecycle governance and supply chain the gaps; security generalists find implementation and testing.
  • Place each scenario in the lifecycle. Before choosing an answer, name the lifecycle stage and the role you are answering as. Passers say the best answer is often the earliest appropriate control.
  • Explain every option. For each question, say why the best answer fits and why the others fail, including questions you got right. This is the skill the vague questions test.
  • Don't trust high scores. One candidate averaged about 90% on a book bank and Pocket Prep, failed, and said the real questions were vaguer. Log misses by domain and retest those topics rather than repeating questions you have memorised.
  • Sit a full run late. In the last weeks, answer 125 questions in one three-hour sitting, using a mock exam from the book or a Build Your Own set in Pocket Prep, and review every miss by domain.

CSSLP practice test FAQ

Are there free CSSLP practice tests?

Yes. ISC2 offers a free 10-question CSSLP quiz and free flashcards for all eight domains after a short sign-up form. Pocket Prep also gives 30 questions free.

Are CSSLP practice tests harder than the real exam?

Candidates disagree. One passer called the exam mostly simple definitions, while another failed after scoring about 90% in practice because the real wording was vaguer. Use practice scores to find topics to review, not to predict the result.

How many CSSLP practice questions do I need?

ISC2 gives no number. Passers range from reading the official CBK with no practice exams to combining Pocket Prep with an official question bank.

Is the CSSLP exam adaptive?

No. Everyone answers 125 questions in up to three hours, so a fixed 125-question practice run matches the format.
