How to choose a CTP course

  • Match the 2026–2028 specifications. The current exam is based on Essentials of Treasury Management, 8th edition. All three AFP options here cover it.
  • Get full-length practice. The exam has 170 questions in 3.5 hours. AFP's 170-question practice exams are in the Exam Prep Platform, and there is no established third-party question bank.
  • Prepare for calculations. 10 to 15% of questions need calculations. Choose a course with worked practice, not reading alone.
  • Choose self-paced or live. The platform fits self-study. The Intensive Review runs four 3-hour sessions with recordings, but it gives less time to chapters expected to carry less exam weight.

Can I pass CTP with free courses?

AFP's free Prep Guide has sample questions with an answer key, but there is no full free CTP course. Plan to buy the platform or the textbook.

How long does a CTP course take?

The Intensive Review Course runs four sessions of three hours. Plan for about 70 hours of preparation in total.

Do I need the textbook as well as the Prep Platform?

No. The Exam Prep Platform contains the textbook content digitally. Buy the book if you want a printed reference.
