Google Ads Certifications Practice Tests

Validates knowledge of building, targeting, bidding and measuring Google Ads campaigns across Search, Display, Video and Shopping.

Google Ads certification is a set of free Skillshop assessments, one per product area, each about 50 multiple-choice questions in 75 minutes. We compared the main options on official coverage, question volume and price.

Google publishes no practice exam, so the lessons' knowledge checks are the official practice. Start with Search, add free question banks for extra reps, and treat paid sets as optional.

Official free path

Google Ads certification learning paths

Free lessons for each product area with knowledge checks, then the assessment. Skillshop now lists 2026 editions of Search and Video next to the older ones, so take the 2026 versions.

Great fit if you want the official material each assessment is built from, at no cost.

Poor fit if you want extra timed questions in assessment style; add the Open Exam Prep banks.

Free question banks

Google Ads practice questions

Free banks of exam-style questions with explanations for Search, Display, Video, Shopping, Apps and Measurement. Independent and not endorsed by Google, so the wording differs from Skillshop's.

Great fit if you want free extra reps for the specific assessment you are taking after the lessons.

Poor fit if you want a final check in Skillshop's exact wording; no official practice exam exists, so use these to find gaps.

Course plus practice

The Complete Google Ads Course (with 4 practice tests)

A 12-hour Google Ads course that includes four practice tests of 100 questions each. The price buys the training too, so it suits people who also want to learn campaign setup.

Great fit if you want campaign training and 400 practice questions in one purchase, with updates in January 2026.

Poor fit if you only need practice questions; the free Skillshop lessons and Open Exam Prep banks cover the assessments.

What to look for in a Google Ads Certifications practice test

  • Match the assessment you are taking. Each product area has its own assessment, and Search and Video now have 2026 editions listed beside the older ones. A Search bank does not prepare you for Measurement, Shopping or Apps.
  • Questions written around Google's recommended answer. Experienced advertisers say the assessments reward the feature Google wants you to use rather than your own tactics. Prefer practice material built from the Skillshop lessons, not general PPC advice.
  • A recent last-updated date. Google Ads renames features and changes defaults often. Several Udemy Search sets were last updated in 2023 or 2024, so check the date before paying for any set.
  • Explanations that tie back to a lesson. Candidates report that some assessment questions do not match the lessons, so you need explanations that say why an option is right in Google's terms. A bare answer key does not help.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual Google Ads questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items, not practice. Use products that write their own questions and explain every answer, so you learn the reasoning the exam tests.

How to use Google Ads Certifications practice tests

  • Take notes while you do the lessons. Candidates say the assessment asks specific questions you will want to look up in your own notes. Write down feature names, definitions and when each bidding or targeting option applies.
  • Do the knowledge checks before any outside bank. They use Google's wording on the same lesson content, so they show you the question style first.
  • Run one timed set per assessment. You have 75 minutes and the timer cannot be paused, and leaving the page expires it. Practise at about a minute and a half per question.
  • When a practice answer clashes with a lesson, follow the lesson. Independent banks use their own judgement. The assessment is written from Skillshop's material, so its wording wins.
  • Plan for yearly renewals. Each certification lasts one year and you renew by passing that assessment again. Re-reading your notes and redoing the checks is usually enough preparation.

Google Ads Certifications practice test FAQ

Are there free Google Ads certification practice tests?

Yes. Skillshop's lessons include free knowledge checks, and Open Exam Prep has free banks of 100 or more questions for Search, Display, Video, Shopping, Apps and Measurement. Google does not publish a separate practice exam.

Where can I find the Google Ads certification answers?

Google does not publish them, and candidates report that answer lists found online were wrong or out of date. Explained practice questions and your own lesson notes work better.

How many questions and how long is a Google Ads assessment?

About 50 multiple-choice questions in 75 minutes. The timer cannot be paused, and if you fail you can retake the same assessment after one day.

Which Google Ads assessment should I practise first?

Search. It is the most widely used campaign type, so start there and add Display, Video, Shopping, Apps or Measurement depending on the work you do.
