Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer (PDE) Practice Tests

Validates knowledge of designing, building and operating data processing systems on Google Cloud, from ingestion to analysis.

Professional Data Engineer questions are long scenarios (40 to 50 in two hours, multiple choice and multiple select) where you pick the best design or service. We compared the main options on question style, question volume and price.

Start with Google's free 26-question sample, then use Dan Sullivan's six Udemy exams for volume, and GCP Study Hub if you also want a video course in the same subscription.

Professional Data Engineer Sample Questions

Twenty-six questions in Google's exam style, from Cloud KMS and BigQuery to Dataflow and Cloud Composer. The form gives no answer key or explanations, so you check each answer against the documentation.

Great fit if you want to see Google's real question wording before spending anything.

Poor fit if you need explanations, scoring or a timed run; use Dan Sullivan's exams.

Author-written full exams

Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer Practice Tests 2026

Six 50-question exams by the author of Wiley's official study guide, rewritten in October 2026 for the current exam guide. Candidates call the questions decent, with short explanations and reference links.

Great fit if you want the most-rated Udemy set for this exam, written to the exam guide's five sections.

Poor fit if you want video lessons alongside the questions; GCP Study Hub includes both.

Course plus practice exams

GCP Professional Data Engineer Certification Course

Five 50-question practice exams and a random 50-question, two-hour simulator, sold inside a video course with labs. Candidates call the questions realistic; every question has an explanation.

Great fit if you want video lessons, labs and practice exams in one subscription.

Poor fit if you only want practice questions at a one-time price; use Dan Sullivan's exams.

Section-mapped second set

Google Cloud Data Engineer Certification Practice Tests 2026

Six exams of 34 to 65 questions, mapped to the five exam sections, with explanations of why the other options are wrong. Reviewed January 2026 and covers renewal-exam topics too.

Great fit if you want a second Udemy set mapped to the exam sections once you have used Dan Sullivan's.

Poor fit if you want the set with the most candidate feedback; Dan Sullivan's has roughly nine times the ratings.

What to look for in a PDE practice test

  • Written for the current exam guide. The five sections are weighted about 22%, 25%, 20%, 15% and 18%, and the guide now includes preparing unstructured data for embeddings and RAG and using LLMs to generate queries. Banks that predate the current guide skip these newer topics.
  • Service names that match the guide. Google says an update for recent branding changes is coming and tells candidates to check the exam guide for the product names used on the exam. Pick a bank whose names match the guide, and treat a renamed product as the same service.
  • Long scenarios with similar-looking answers. The exam is 40 to 50 multiple-choice and multiple-select questions in two hours, with no case studies or labs. Candidates describe long stems and answers that all look alike, so look for sets with that wording and an explanation for every option.
  • Enough fresh questions for two or three full runs. Google's sample has 26 questions, Study Hub has 250 plus a 50-question simulator, and Dan Sullivan's set has 300. Retaking a set you remember measures memory, not skill.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual Professional Data Engineer questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items. Google Cloud's exam terms ban using exam content found online and let Google revoke any or all of your certifications and bar you from the program. A real practice test explains why each answer is right; a dump only lists answers.

How to use PDE practice tests

  • Start with Google's sample, untimed. Take the 26 questions before you study in depth, then look up every answer in the documentation. The result shows which of the five sections to study first.
  • Review every explanation, including right guesses. Most questions turn on one cue such as lowest cost, least operational effort or lowest latency. Write down which cue made the correct service win.
  • Track weak areas by section and service. Candidates report BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Dataproc and Bigtable most often, with IAM and governance woven through them. Tally misses by service as well as by section.
  • Run a full two-hour exam late. Do at least one timed run of 50 questions near your exam date; that is about two and a half minutes per question. Study Hub's simulator serves 50 random questions in two hours.
  • Move on once you recognise the answers. Scores on a set you have already seen stop meaning anything. Switch to a fresh set, such as Dan Sullivan's after Study Hub, and judge progress by your trend within each product.

PDE practice test FAQ

Are there free Professional Data Engineer practice tests?

Yes. Google publishes a free 26-question sample as a form that asks for your name and email, and GCP Study Hub offers a free preview of its practice questions. Neither is a full-length exam.

Are the practice exams harder than the real Professional Data Engineer exam?

There is no consistent pattern. Candidates call GCP Study Hub's questions realistic and describe the real exam as long scenarios whose answers look alike, so judge readiness by your trend rather than one score.

How many Professional Data Engineer practice exams should I take?

Two or three full 50-question runs on questions you have not seen, each followed by a thorough review, is a sensible target. Extra sets help only while their questions are new to you.

What question types are on the Professional Data Engineer exam?

Multiple choice and multiple select, 40 to 50 in two hours. There are no case studies or labs, so a standard question bank covers the format; Google's sample includes a multiple-select item.
