How to choose a FOCP course

  • Decide on the bundle. The official course with the exam is $500 and the exam alone is $325. The $175 difference buys the six-module course and 12 months of access.
  • Know the exam. The exam is 50 multiple-choice questions in one hour with a 75% pass mark and three attempts in 12 months. A course should teach the Framework's terms, then practice questions check your recall.
  • Check the course is current. The FinOps Framework was revised in 2026, and the official course follows the exam. Holbrook's Udemy course was last updated in April 2025.
  • Self-study is possible. The FinOps Framework is free to read. If you already manage cloud costs, the exam plus practice questions can be enough.

Recommended FOCP course combinations

  • Lowest cost: The free Introduction to FinOps and the free FinOps Framework, FinOps Weekly's 15 free sample questions and Serge Niagne's 250 questions ($20), then the exam ($325).
  • Employer pays: The official course with the exam ($500), then Whizlabs' practice tests ($16) to check readiness.
  • New to cloud costs: Introduction to FinOps (free) and Joseph Holbrook's crash course for a quick overview, then Cloud Practice Provider's 250 questions ($35).
  • Already manage cloud costs: The exam only ($325) after FinOps Weekly's free sample questions and Whizlabs' practice tests ($16).
