GitHub Administration (GH-100) Practice Tests

Validates knowledge of managing GitHub Enterprise identities and access, environment setup, secure development, Actions governance and usage monitoring.

GH-100 is closed book: 100 minutes for 60 scored multiple-choice questions plus about 10 to 15 pretest items. Scenarios cover running GitHub Enterprise: account models, SSO and SCIM, security policies and governing Actions. Microsoft rewrote the objectives in July 2026. We compared the main options on question style, current objectives and price.

Start with Microsoft's free practice assessment, then add MeasureUp or a Udemy set for volume, keeping in mind that most third-party sets were written for the earlier outline.

GH-100 Practice Assessment

Microsoft's own practice questions, which show the style, wording and difficulty of the real exam and let you review explanations afterwards. A good baseline, though small on its own.

Great fit if you want a free official baseline before spending anything, and a readiness check near the end.

Poor fit if you need a large bank to drill; candidates who passed paired it with MeasureUp.

Free doc-linked questions

GitHub Administration practice test

Community-written questions kept in an open GitHub repository, each linking to the GitHub Docs page behind the answer. Actively maintained through 2026, with timed challenge modes.

Great fit if you want extra free questions and a docs link to read for every miss.

Poor fit if you want written explanations or a full-length timed exam; use MeasureUp.

Explained question bank

GH-100 GitHub Administration Practice Test

Questions with explanations, in a certification mode that mimics the exam and a practice mode where you choose topics. Written in November 2025 for the earlier seven-domain outline, and a free demo is available.

Great fit if you want a large explained question set and a candidate-tested route: a passing candidate used it after the Microsoft assessment.

Poor fit if you need questions written for the July 2026 outline; pair it with the Microsoft assessment and the docs.

Volume for drilling

GitHub Administration Certification GH-100 [Exams 2026]

Six 50-question exams with an explanation for each response, taken by more than 4,000 learners. Last updated in January 2026, before the objectives were rewritten.

Great fit if you want volume for repeated drills at a low price and will cross-check against the new objectives.

Poor fit if you want questions on the July 2026 outline; start with the Microsoft assessment.

What to look for in a GitHub Administration practice test

  • Check which outline a bank was written for. Microsoft rewrote GH-100 in July 2026: five domains, with security and compliance (25-30%) and Actions (20-25%) now the biggest. The new list no longer includes GitHub Packages or GitHub AE and adds items such as rulesets, personal access token rate limits, GitHub Apps vs OAuth Apps and runner networking. Expect some questions in older banks to be off-target.
  • Look for scenario questions on settings and policy. Questions ask which account model, provisioning method or enterprise setting solves a stated problem. Pick banks that explain why the other options fail, as MeasureUp does, or link the docs page, as GHCertified does.
  • Weight your practice to Security and Actions. Those two domains are roughly half the exam, so make sure a bank has real depth on secret scanning, CodeQL, Dependabot, runner groups and secrets scopes rather than only SSO basics.
  • Use the official assessment, but not on its own. Microsoft's free assessment shows the exam's wording, but candidates who passed say it is not enough by itself and added a larger paid bank.
  • Skip sites selling "real exam questions." Sites promising actual GH-100 questions or a guaranteed pass are selling leaked or copied items, not practice. Use products that write their own questions and explain every answer, so you learn the reasoning the exam tests.

How to use GitHub Administration practice tests

  • Take the Microsoft assessment cold. Do it before you study heavily, and note which of the five domains cost you the most.
  • Open the docs for every miss. For each wrong answer, read the GitHub Docs page behind it. GHCertified links one for every question, and the fix is usually a setting you can find in an Enterprise trial.
  • Map older questions to the new domains. If a bank was written for the earlier outline, skip questions on GitHub Packages or GitHub AE and log the rest against the five new domains.
  • Practise the settings, not just the answers. Use a GitHub Enterprise trial to configure SAML or SCIM, runner groups, secrets and rulesets once. The exam may include interactive components, so seeing the settings helps.
  • Finish with a timed run. In the last week, take MeasureUp's certification mode or a Udemy exam in one sitting within the 100-minute limit, and redo the Microsoft assessment to see progress.

GitHub Administration practice test FAQ

Is there a free GH-100 practice test?

Yes. Microsoft Learn offers an official free practice assessment, and GHCertified has about 97 free community questions with links to the docs.

Did the GH-100 exam change?

Yes. Microsoft says the exam changed significantly in July 2026, with objectives added, removed and reworded. Most paid practice sets were written for the earlier outline, so use them for volume and check any surprises against the docs.

Is the Microsoft practice assessment enough?

Candidates who passed say not by itself. One used the Microsoft assessment first, then MeasureUp, before taking the exam.

How long is the GH-100 exam?

You have 100 minutes. Microsoft does not publish the number of questions, and a score of 700 or more is needed to pass.
