How to choose a PMP course

  • Get your 35 contact hours. PMI requires 35 hours of project management training before you apply, unless you hold an active CAPM. Andrew Ramdayal, Brain Sensei, PMI and PMTraining all provide them.
  • Check it covers the July 2026 exam. PMI introduced a new PMP exam on July 9, 2026. Choose a course updated for it, as all five here are.
  • Use an authorized provider for live classes. From December 1, 2026, live courses only count toward the 35 hours if they come from a PMI-authorized training provider or an eligible academic program.
  • Learn the PMI way of answering. Most PMP questions ask what a project manager should do next. A good course teaches that mindset with scenario questions, not just definitions.

  • Lowest cost: Andrew Ramdayal's course ($130) for the 35 hours, David McLachlan's free question videos, and PMI Study Hall ($59 for 3 months) for official questions.
  • Most practice in one place: Brain Sensei's course ($300) with its simulator, then PMI's $99 practice exam as a final check.
  • Live and structured: PMTraining's live class (from $898), which includes an exam simulator, plus PMI Study Hall in the last weeks.
  • Active CAPM holders: Skip the course, since your CAPM covers the training requirement, and spend on PMI Study Hall and the TIA simulator ($45).
