How to choose a A+ course

  • Match the V15 exams. A+ is two exams, Core 1 (220-1201) and Core 2 (220-1202), launched in March 2025. Courses for the old 220-1101 and 220-1102 are still on sale, so look for 1201 or 1202 in the title.
  • Check it covers both cores. Messer, CertMaster Learn and the Sybex guide cover both exams. Meyers' course covers Core 1 only, so Core 2 needs a second course.
  • Plan for performance-based questions. Each exam opens with a few performance-based questions. Courses teach the content, so practise those with a bank such as Crucial Exams.
  • Pick one main course and add practice. The free and paid courses here teach the objectives but include little practice. Budget for a separate practice exam set for each core.

Recommended A+ course combinations

  • Lowest cost: Messer's free videos and ExamCompass's free topic drills, then Messer's practice exams ($60 for both cores).
  • Learning by watching: Meyers' Core 1 course for the demonstrations and Jason Dion's practice exams ($20 per core) for timed rehearsals.
  • Employer pays: CertMaster Learn ($684) with CertMaster Practice for A+ ($279 for both cores).
  • Hands-on questions: Messer's videos with Crucial Exams' A+ Practice Tests and PBQs ($20/month).
